Ten Steps to Buying a Home

Each property purchase is different, but over the years a typical pattern has emerged. Here are the typical steps when you buy your home.

1. Meet an agent and agree to work as either "buyer's agency" or "seller's agent"

2. Visit properties and then make an offer

3. Negotiate terms then ratify contract

4. Home Inspection (including Radon and Mold) - and then, if agreed repairs to property if necessary

5. Appraisal

6. House Location Survey

7. Septic and well/ water tests

8. Termite Inspection

9. Walk through day of closing to check all is fine with property.

10. Closing at attorney's office or title company, same day move into house.
